What are Drywall Tapers?
Drywall tapers essentially finish drywall to the pint where it is ready for painting (or alternative finish). Finished taping implies more than just plastering the walls, ceilings and bulkheads of an area; finished drywall is completely primed and prepared for paint. Note: in order to be prepared for painting, finished drywall needs to be sanded free from any small dirt or debris that adhered to any surfaces during the priming stage and that any imperfections have been corrected then re-primed.
How to Perform Drywall Taping?
Home Depot's - how to tape drywall video.
Canadian Tire's - taping drywall.
After the drywall panels are placed, the Tapers prepare the panels with tape by applying the tape to surfaces of walls and ceilings for painting.
What is Wall Repair?
Existing walls sometimes require repairing. Wall repairs range from such blemishes as deep scratches, bubble holes (also referred to as fish eyes), visible dents, nail holes to more common (and unsightly) drywall defects such as cracked corners and joints, poorly finished joints, patch-up work and damaged walls. A good drywall taper fixes these things as he goes along with his regular work.
Wall Repair and Drywall Taping Company
We are professional drywall tapers serving all of the York Region and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
We properly installs paper tape for all inside corners, fibertape or paper tape for lateral and butt joints. Work with roll-on beads, metal corner beads, rounded corners, paper beads, flex bead (for archways), insides-outsides.
I put together a before and after look at some difficult drywall taping situations. First there is the unboarded eye level entrance way, then a double patch-up bulkhead assembly and finally a quad butt joint vent obstruction.

The proper use of hand tools (hawk, trowel, sander ...) separates skilled drywall tapers from novices. Drywall taping has standards in Ontario and are based on quality finish more than anything, see Rating Drywall Tapers. With the advent of angle applicators, flat boxes, corner rollers, mud runners etc., drywall taping has no longer become an art. Many contractors of today are lost when faced with working with the old hand tools. Many don't own a trowel. Any short-cuts that may risk the quality or durability of the finish product are unacceptable to a master taper.
It is always better to take the time necessary and use the materials needed in order to guarantee a durable, high quality job. Drywall taping originated from the art of plastering. The primary goal of any real drywall taper is to provide perfect walls and square corners that will not crack. This sometimes may require great skill in order to accomplish.

Finding a good drywall taping contractors at fair rates is getting more difficult each day as fewer young people are seeking a skilled, working with your hands type trade each year. Master plasterers are rare these days. Most drywall tapers when confronted with plaster moulding repair either back away from the task or sub-contract it. We haven't come across a situation yet that we weren't able to correctly rectify. We may not be the cheapest bidder on a project (usually we are in the middle pack) but we always walk away proud of our accomplishments and with a new satisfied customer.
